A touching tribute over the weekend to a staple of one of the province’s historic sites.
Chief, the Signal Hill dog, passed away about a week ago.
The dog was a regular up on the hill, with tourists and locals alike often stopping to take pictures with him.
The Newfoundland Dogs in Newfoundland Facebook group recently organized a tribute to Chief, with the dogs and their owners lining Chief’s favourite spot on the hill in tribute to their friend.
Owner Becky Jackman comments in a post to Facebook that they have received an “overwhelming” and “incredible” amount of support over the last week, and they had no idea how many lives Chief touched.
She says the Newfoundland Dog breed is “one-of-a-kind, impactful and memorable” to those who cross paths with them.
