It’s an exciting day for students and teachers across the province as the new school year gets underway.
Teachers’ Union President Trent Langdon says there is a renewed sense of hope and optimism heading into this school year as the population adjusts to living with COVID.
He encourages students to enjoy coming together again and to do so safely. “We want all the sporting and music events to come back full-fledged,” says Langdon. “That’s where the memories are built, and where true growth happens.”
Meanwhile, Education Minister John Haggie will be on hand at Gander Academy in his district this morning to help welcome students back to classes.
Haggie took over the new portfolio over the summer.
