A technology company which has grown exponentially since being founded about 15 years ago does not think it will have to leave St. John’s.
Often times, companies who experience considerable growth end up moving their headquarters to the Mainland but co-founder of Verafin, Brendan Brothers, does not see that happening.
They have grown from 200 employees to 500 employees in just a few years. Last week, they secured one of the largest venture capital funds ever achieved in Canada – over $500-million. Verafin creates security software for the financial industry.
Brothers says they are in constant contact with Memorial University and the colleges to ensure there is a steady stream of people coming out of the computer programs.
He says Verafin is one of many technology companies in the city with a tremendous amount of growth opportunity. They hire people from this province but also bring in people from the Maritimes and other countries.
