The Opposition says the province is in a “critical health care crisis” which requires immediate action.
Leader David Brazil is expressing serious concern over reports of an internal memo sent to Health Science Centre staff highlighting an immediate need for registered nurses, LPNs, and personal care attendants to work in the Health Sciences ER this weekend.
Brazil says Eastern Health is begging RNs, LPNs, and PCAs to work additional shifts after asking people to refrain from visiting the Health Sciences and St. Clare’s ERs unless in case of a serious emergency.
Brazil says he’s deeply concerned that emergency care will not be available when people need lifesaving care the most.
He says government needs to find creative, innovative and immediate ways to start addressing health care needs.
