The Board of St. John’s Pride says they may not have enough interest to operate for the next year.
The board is supposed to hold elections later this week, but have only received one nomination form thus far. There are nine positions.
Because of this, the deadline for applications has been extended until this Friday at 8:00.
Derek Semerad, Co-Chair Internal of St. John’s Pride says the lack of interest is part of an ongoing trend.
He says there is lots of interest in the annual pride parade, and a lot of people who say they can do it better. However, those people aren’t applying to be on the board itself.
He says it is a frustrating, especially with sponsorships and community interest being very high.
St. John’s Pride is currently looking for nominations for three co chairs to serve a two year term, and six Directors at Large to serve a one year term.
