“Shocking” and “unacceptable.”
That’s the health minister’s assessment of photos taken and shared of patients in long-term care at the hospital in Baie Verte.
It’s alleged one or two staff members took the inappropriate pictures without the consent of patients. It’s not clear what the pictures showed.
Two families have so far been affected, triggering investigations by Central Health and the RCMP.
Health Minister Tom Osborne acknowledged the troubling situation in the House of Assembly on Thursday. He called it “shocking and unacceptable,” expressing his concern for the patients and families involved.
But beyond that, neither Osborne nor the Premier would comment while the investigations are ongoing.
