The Canadian Red Cross has an update on efforts to date to help people in Newfoundland, Nova Scotia, PEI and Quebec affected by Hurricane Fiona.
More than 240 Red Cross volunteers and staff participated in emergency response efforts in the region.
The organization says to date, they have provided emergency shelter to more than 1,200 people, offered support at 20 shelters, and provided more than 5,700 emergency items to affected residents and communities.
More than 79,000 households in the region have been registered, and more than $11 million has been distributed to in excess of 32,000 eligible households.
