The Opposition is accusing Education Minister John Haggie of being out of touch with the realities of the SmartFind system used to find and book substitute teachers in the school system.
Opposition Education critic Barry Petten says substitute teachers are telling them the system is causing chaos in the classroom, but Minister Haggie in the House of Assembly this week indicated that it’s working “very well.”
Petten says the SmartFind algorithm fails to take into account seniority and experience, especially in light of classrooms with a variety of needs and exceptionalities.
