The councillor representing the area that was hardest hit by Hurricane Earl says he’s still waiting to hear back from the provincial government regarding assistance for residents without insurance.
Councillor Carl Ridgeley says he met with the provincial government last week after the Mooney Crescent area of Killbride faced extensive damage during the storm. They’re currently waiting to hear back from government to see what the next steps are.
Meanwhile, Ridgeley is asking the city to explore the installation of storm retention systems for areas that don’t currently have them.
He understands it is a complex issue and he doesn’t expect an answer right away, but he would like staff to consider it for the future to improve current water retention infrastructure.
