The Opposition says the system has “betrayed the trust” of at least seven families who entrusted the care of their loved ones to institutional long-term care.
Opposition Leader Barry Petten was referencing the recent revelation that at least seven families have been affected after it was revealed that some staff members had taken inappropriate pictures of residents at a long-term care facility in Baie Verte.
Petten questioned Health Minister Tom Osborne about the latest information in the House of Assembly this afternoon.
Petten questioned whether or not the province will launch its own investigation under the Adult Protection Act which includes humiliation as a form of abuse. Minister Osborne says both the RCMP and Central Health are conducting their own investigations into the incident.
RCMP are trying to determine if a criminal act occurred. The investigation continues.
