A new survey shows Canada’s labour market transition.
The Angus Reid Institute survey of over 5,000 Canadians found that the number of service and hospitality sector workers declined by 18 percent, with a 22 percent decline among 18 to 24-year-olds.
On the other hand, the tech sector grew by 15 percent, with a 36 increase in 18 to 24-year-olds.
Many older Canadians opted for retirement rather than returning to work, with an 11 percent increase.
78 percent of full-time and 70 percent of part-time workers are satisfied with their current employment, with professionals, tech workers, and creative industry workers reporting the highest satisfaction. The lowest satisfaction was reported by service, office, and labour workers.
Only 39 percent of gig workers are satisfied with their employment.
