Trades NL is doing what it can to ensure that local workers get as much work as possible from the Bay du Nord project.
The hull will be built outside the province, but there are local opportunities in relation to the topsides, mating, commissioning and tow-out.
Executive Director Darin King says they expect much the same as what is happening in Norway with the construction of the Johan Casberg.
Other than the hull, there’s nothing else that can’t be done in this province. King says in Norway, the hull of the Johan Casberg was towed back to that country for local benefits for Norwegians. “And that’s really all we’re asking for,” says King, “is to treat Newfoundland and Labrador the same as they treat their own in Norway.”
