The provincial NDP is expressing frustration that government appears not to have a plan for long-term care in the province.
Leader Jim Dinn is calling on the province to engage an expert who does not favour the privatization of services to lead a review of long-term care.
Dinn says he does not accept the minister’s “continued use of the COVID-19 pandemic as a cover for inaction.”
The RNU has revealed that 20 per cent of hospital beds are holding patients waiting to be moved to long-term care. That, coupled with disturbing revelations about abuse suffered by patients in long-term care, are systemic issues within the system that need to be addressed says Dinn.
