NDP Leader Jim Dinn is questioning why the estimated cost of the renovation and expansion of the ER at the Health Sciences Centre has ballooned to $40 million from the $10 million allotted in the budget earlier this year.

Dinn suspects more is at play than inflation.

He told VOCM Open Line with Paddy Daly he wants to see the proof or data that justifies the increase. He likened it to a contractor doing work on your home suddenly jacking up the cost. “I can’t help but think Paddy, you’d be saying ‘wait a minute, where did this come from?'”
