A local tech company is working on some innovative technology to help people living with Parkinson’s Disease.
Bronwyn Bridges, CEO of PragmaClin, says they are working on a digital assessment tool for people with the disease.
She says the system monitors motor and non-motor symptoms of the disease over time so the patient can be tracked more frequently and objectively, which gives their neurologist better insight into how the disease is progressing.
Bridges explains that patients with the disease are currently only seen once per year, and even then patients often have on and off days that can affect the assessment when they are seen. She says the technology will help patients receive more frequent assessments, take away the subjectivity and improve the accuracy of the assessments when done.
She says the technology is still being trialed, and the next step for them is to have it approved by the gold standard, which is a neurologist.
