The Single Parent Association says they’re seeing an increased demand for support this holiday season.
SPAN has been hosting a number of fundraisers to support 250 families this Christmas.
Executive Director Sonya Smith says it has been a rough year for single families with the rising cost of living.
She says they had a single mother visit their food bank who said buying household essentials such as bread, eggs and milk costs an hour out of her paycheque.
Currently, there are 100 additional families on the waiting list to receive support from the association. Smith says although they are at capacity, they will provide to anyone who needs extra help.
She says they are confident that their fundraising efforts will allow them to have enough to support every family on the waiting list.
