Training and knowledge of core work-related skills is having a positive impact on people’s stress levels.
That’s according to ABC Life Literacy Canada, an organization that offers various types of life skills training.
They say workers who participate in essential skills training are about 25 percent more likely to report a reduction in their work-related stress levels than those who don’t have such training.
Executive director Allison Howard says such skills include things like accountability, time management, adaptability, and attitude.
She says those skills are what all employers are looking for, no matter the role, and they help set people up for success and reduce stress.
Howard says they help teach people how to work with others and cope with issues when they arise. As well, she says they give people the confidence to ask for help when they don’t have all the answers.
