Charities and community organizations in the Happy Valley-Goose Bay region of Labrador have received a boost thanks to the local RCMP detachment.
Last week, the force divvied up money collected at its annual Friends of the Force Charity Ball held in November. In total, over $14,600 dollars was raised.
Organizations to benefit from the funds include Kids Eat Smart, the Make-A-Wish Foundation, the Labrador Friendship Centre Food Bank, and the Ministerial Foundation.
As well, money has been earmarked for the distribution of Christmas hampers in Happy Valley-Goose Bay, and to seniors in Mary’s Harbour—which will be done in collaboration with the Ministerial Association.
The charity ball has been held annually since 2004, and in the last 12 years over $70,000 dollars has been raised for local charities.
