The St. Alban’s area has secured a full-time physician for the Bay d’Espoir Medical Centre.

After some speculation that a deal had fallen through, Central Health says family physician Dr. Madan Mariappan, who came to the province from Australia, will be staying on at the clinic in a permanent role.

Dr. Mariappan, affectionately known as Dr. Madan, has worked in the area both as a locum and on a permanent basis since 2014, and according to Central Health has become a cherished and valued member of the community.

Dr. Mariappan posted on the Town of St. Alban’s site that while the issues with his license have not been resolved, he has always felt welcomed. He’s looking at the positive side and has decided to stay whether the issue “has been resolved or not.”
