The City of St. John’s is warning area residents about a scheduled blast at Robin Hood Bay this afternoon.
The blast, scheduled for between 2:00 p.m. and 3:00 p.m., will occur at the east end of the landfill site in the area of the quarry.
The blast is necessary for rock production as part of a recent contract awarded to Capital Ready-Mix.
Marshalls will be stationed along the East Coast Trail to notify hikers in the area. People are being advised to avoid the area this afternoon.
