A 40-year-old St. John’s man has been arrested and charged following an violent assault that left a man with serious injuries over the weekend.

Police were first called to the area of Linden Place, and then nearby Beech Place at about 10 p.m. Sunday.

A 20-year-old man was found with serious injuries at the scene. He was transported to hospital where he remains in stable condition.

Yesterday afternoon at 3:30, the RNC arrested Al Hega Ali-Hussain without incident at his home in St. John’s in connection to the alleged assault.

He is facing one charge of aggravated assault, assault with a weapon, and two charges of possession of a weapon for a dangerous purpose.

The investigation is still active and police are seeking footage from the area between 9 and 11 p.m. on December 18.
