Premier Andrew Furey joined with his Atlantic counterparts recently for a virtual discussion on continued concerns surrounding health care and sustainable regional growth.
Premier Tim Houston of Nova Scotia chaired the meeting which included discussion on long-term sustainable health care funding, and ongoing work to innovate and improve health care services in the region.
The premiers are reiterating their position that a strong federal funding partnership would support and accelerate the efforts.
The premiers continue to call for an increase in the Canada Health Transfer so that the federal share of provincial and territorial health care costs rises to 5 per cent.
They also echo the Council of the Federation’s call for a First Ministers Meeting with Prime Minister Justin Trudeau focused on the Canada Health Transfer.
