A man in Burnt Islands says he can’t get any Fiona relief despite the fact that the land surrounding his house was completely washed away.
Murray Hardy says the bottom floor of his home was destroyed by the storm back in September.
He lost two bedrooms, the laundry room, his siding was torn away and the patio was blown off the building, all of which he cleaned out and fixed—but the land was completely washed away.
“I can jump off my patio now,” he says and “jump overboard.”
Hardy says despite the damage, he can’t access Fiona relief.
They gave him a $500 credit card, but despite the fact that Red Cross officials and the mayor all agreed that something has to be done to address the damage, he can’t get anything.
He had a small amount of insurance which helped towards the damage to the house, but he needs fill for his property, and he doesn’t know where to turn. All he’s being told is “there’s no money for fill.”
