Stormy weather in central Canada is not only presenting challenges with travel, but with the power grid in Labrador.
Some customers in the Upper Lake Melville area found themselves without power this morning. NL Hydro crews have located and fixed the problem in the Happy Valley-Goose Bay station, but are now waiting for the plant at Churchill Falls to be able to consistently flow power. The utility says the stormy weather in Quebec is causing issues.
Meanwhile, Hydro says it’s going to mobilize the backup gas turbine. It does not have a timeline for a resumption of power.
