With trips to the grocery store becoming costly for many, one St. John’s man is using social media to help people get the best bang for their buck.
Chris Donovan spends every Tuesday evening analyzing store flyers for savings to compile into a list that he shares on his Twitter @WalkingManNL.

The grocery deal lists started when Donovan himself was looking to save a few dollars amid the rising cost of living. Now the highly-anticipated weekly posts receive hundreds of likes and shares.
Donovan says a lot of times sharing his list with the public isn’t just about providing the best sales as it can be helpful for people who often don’t take the time to sit down and read the flyers each week. He says he never used to read the flyers, but with rising costs, it’s a necessity.
He says his lists have allowed him to shop around more often and make significant savings.
By doing a major grocery haul every two weeks, he estimates he saves around $50-$60 and says it’s possible to save over $100 a month if you are willing to shop around.
