New Year’s Eve fireworks will take on dual meaning in the province’s second-largest municipality this year. In addition to ringing in the new year, they will serve as the launchpad for the 50th anniversary of the incorporation of Conception Bay South.
CBS takes in nine communities from Topsail in the east to Seal Cove in the west. The first amalgamation came in 1973 and the final unification in the late 1980’s when the remainder of Seal Cove, Lawrence Pond and Foxtrap were added to the mix.
Deputy Mayor Andrea Gosse says they’ve just come through a tough budget so the celebration will feature events throughout the year.
We're celebrating the New Year with a fireworks display at 7:00 p.m., December 31, from the end of Red Bridge Road.
Viewing for the fireworks display is available at the CBS Arena parking lot.
