RCMP are advising the public of an increased number of officers in the Jerseyside area of Placentia.

They released the statement through mainstream and social media early Friday evening.

They do say people in the area are free to go about their business, adding there is no threat to public safety.

RCMP released no other details, except to say the influx is linked to an ongoing investigation.
