Premier Andrew Furey is hopeful that 2023 will be a fruitful one for the oil and gas sector.
2022 saw the industry start to rebound from the lows of the pandemic that has most construction and oil exploration completely shut down.
This year, Furey is hopeful that more construction will be done on the West White Rose extension, more “granular progress” will take place on the Bay du Nord project, and he is also looking forward to having the Terra Nova back off our shores.
Furey touts the importance of the product produced here.
The province’s product is what the world needs, says Furey, whether that’s for climate reasons or political reasons. He says even if the war in Ukraine ends tomorrow, the world isn’t going back to Russian oil and gas any time soon, which has given Canadian markets a great opportunity.
