Many parts of the island woke up to a taste of winter following a mild holiday season.
Snow accumulated quickly in Central Newfoundland, picking up 20 cm over the course of 12 hours, more snow than reported in the entire month of December.
Rain is expected to take over on the Avalon and in Central, but flurries are expected to continue for the remainder of the island.
