Season two of the beloved sitcom based on a young Mark Critch is set to hit the screen tonight.

‘Son of a Critch’ is returning following a successful first season.

Critch says season two will follow young Mark who has to navigate through the highs and lows of being a kid in junior high.

He says young Mark is in for a world of change when he discovers that his love interest Fox is dating an older boy with a bad reputation. He also finds out that his best friend Richie met a new group of friends over summer break.

The show focuses on many aspects of Critch’s childhood, including his close ties to VOCM with the comedian himself playing the role of his father, legendary VOCM newsman Mike Critch—something Critch finds nostalgic.

He describes it as walking through memories. While in character, Critch dons the same clothes his dad wore, including the iconic red VOCM jacket. He says the set that replicates his childhood home features some of the exact furniture from back in the day—such as the exact same radio he used to listen to VOCM on every morning as a child.

Season 2 of Son of a Critch premieres tonight at 9:00 p.m. on CBC.
