Connor Bedard scored in overtime to give Canada a 4 to 3 win over Slovakia and a berth in the semi-final against the United States at the World Junior Hockey Championship in the Maritimes.

Zach Dean of Mount Pearl chalked up an assist for the winners, who outshot the Slovaks 2 to 1.

Sweden and Chechia make up the other semi-final. That one will go first Wednesday around suppertime followed by the Canada-US matchup at 8 p.m.
