It will be another few days before one of the province’s most popular recreation and tourism facilities fully opens up.

Skiers and snowboarders are anxiously awaiting the opening of Marble Mountain Resort in Steady Brook for the 2023 season but a lack of snow has pushed back the opening to next week.

Dustin Parsons, marketing manager for Marble, says the snow cover looked good in November but not so good in December. Currently, there is enough snow at the top of the mountain but the white stuff isn’t as abundant as they’d like it to be on the bottom half.

He says December 28 was a soft opening date as it’s usually the first or second week in January before it’s fully opened, so they’re aiming for January 11.
