An 18-year-old man is facing dangerous driving charges after failing to stop for police.
RCMP attempted to stop a vehicle in Dildo last Thursday evening but instead of pulling over, the driver turned off the vehicle’s lights and sped away through a residential area.
Police did not pursue the vehicle in the interest of public safety, but extensive patrols located the suspect and vehicle a short time later.
The driver showed signs of drug impairment and tested positive for cannabis on roadside screening equipment. His licence was suspended and his vehicle seized.
The accused, who was released from custody, faces charges of flight from police, dangerous driving, and drug impaired driving. He’s scheduled to appear in court at a later date.
