A social and economic well-being plan is one of the major pieces of social policy now being explored by the provincial government.
The minister of children, seniors and social development, John Abbott, says it’s part of an effort to replace the former Poverty Reduction Strategy.
He says it will explore, in consultation with various groups, residents and people with lived experience, the economic and social well-being of residents of the province.
Abbott says it will be a comprehensive plan looking at things like housing, food security, early childhood education and income which will serve as a companion document to the Health Accord which addresses the social determinants of health.
