The Association for New Canadians has been busy over the last year providing supports for newcomers to the province.
The ANC offered assistance to some 1,300 Ukrainian refugees who arrived in the province since the Russian invasion and also provided help and support to more than 500 refugees from Afghanistan and Syria.
Executive Director Megan Morris says it’s a lot of work helping newcomers find essentials like housing and employment.
The ANC has eight offices across the province which provides information and support to refugees as they adjust to their new home. Morris says refugees have been settling all over the island and in Labrador. Some people go straight to the location where they’ve found employment, while others spend time with a host family.
