The peninsula will see 15 cm of snow, with areas of higher elevation getting 20 to 25 cm. The wind will pick up in the afternoon with gusts up to 80 km/h along the coast. The Burin, Clarenville and Bonavista areas will see snow as well, however significantly less.
All St. John’s-Metro area schools are closed today, along with a number of schools on the Avalon. Memorial University and College of the North Atlantic are also closed for the day, however online classes will go ahead.

Meteorologist with the Gander Weather Office, Rob Carroll, says the worst of the storm will be during the afternoon commute and will begin to taper off this evening, leading to a few quiet days.
He says Wednesday, Thursday and Friday look clear and cold, but a complex storm is set to hit most of the island this weekend, with temperatures warming up.
