It was a day of generosity on the west coast as three radiothons hit the airwaves on the VOCM radio network all in support of three healthcare foundations.
Live from Corner Brook, the Western Regional Hospital Foundation raised a total of over $350,000, which received a $200,000 matching donation from the provincial government. The radiothon was held in support of breast cancer care, as well as the purchase of three pieces of equipment: a 3D mammography unit, a lymphatic mapping probe and a general ultrasound. They have a two-year goal of $1-million.

Meanwhile, in Stephenville, the Dr. Charles L Legrow Health Centre Foundation radiothon raised over $51,600 for a new wheelchair accessible bus for the health centre’s long term residents and adult day support clients. The province contributed a matching donation of $50,000.
As well, the Sir Thomas Roddick Hospital Foundation radiothon raised over $51,800 with an additional $50,000 donation from the provincial government, in support of essential healthcare needs at the hospital.
The radiothons were supported by VOCM Cares, and carried live on the VOCM radio network.
