The alleged victim of sexual exploitation at the hands of a St. John’s teacher has testified they did have sex in the back seat of the student’s family car.
The young man, who is now 21 but was 16 at the time, has testified that he and Krysta Grimes had consensual sexual intercourse in the back of a BMW in June of 2018.
He says they made a plan to hook up through Snapchat, with him picking her up one afternoon in Logy Bay and driving to Outer Cove.
There, he says they got in the back seat, began kissing and touching, got undressed, and had sex with a condom.
The young man was composed and articulate on the stand after the judge denied his request to testify by closed-circuit TV.
Grimes, meanwhile, showed little emotion, glancing back and forth between him and the Crown prosecutor.
He said it all came to a head about six months later when he got a text from Grimes asking if he’d heard anything from the school and if he “had her back.”
He testified he took that to mean they should deny everything, which he did in a subsequent meeting with the school. He says he later came clean to his parents, the school and eventually the police.
The defence is expected to cross-examine the alleged victim Friday afternoon.
