A protest is planned outside St. John’s City Hall this afternoon to protest council’s decision not to implement a new nuisance light bylaw.
The city has been under pressure from residents of the Outer Battery who are fed up with excessively bright flood lights set up on a property in the area.
Mayor Danny Breen told reporters on Thursday that the city’s bylaws are sufficient and that city staff are not convinced that a nuisance lighting bylaw is needed at this time.
That is not sitting well with residents who say the situation is affecting their quality of life.
Protesters are planning to gather outside city hall just before the regular council meeting that gets underway at 3 p.m.
