That, from two-time Olympic medalist with Team Canada and EA Sports NHL 23 cover athlete, Sarah Nurse.

Nurse was the first female to grace the cover of an EA Sports NHL title with NHL 23, appearing alongside Anaheim Ducks star, Trevor Zegras.

In an interview with VOCM News, the hockey phenom says being on the cover of an NHL video game was something she never dreamt of. But now, she hopes young girls can grow up and dream of being professional hockey players and on the cover of video games.

Nurse insists that it’s possible and achievable to reach those dreams. To be able to be a representative for women’s hockey is a privilege and something in which she takes a lot of pride.

However, Nurse explains that it’s not only important for young girls to see women in positions of power, but also for young boys as well.

She says she’s seen a shift in the level of respect women’s sports have received from men and boys since the cover was released.

That’s something EA sports wanted to convey, says Nurse. They wanted Zegras and her on the same level as professional hockey players.

She says more young boys are coming up to her and talking about the cover.
