A Go Fund Me has been set up for a well known local businessman who is facing a serious illness.

Scott Hillyer, the owner of Coffee Matters, has been diagnosed with what Mount Pearl councillors Isabelle Fry and Paula Tessier call a rare and challenging form of cancer.

The councillors say Hillyer, who they describe as a pillar of the Mount Pearl community, has given to so many as an employer and through his regular Commmunity Suppers supplying hot meals to those in need at no cost to the recipients.

Fry and Tessier says Hillyer has had to take time away from work to recover from major surgeries and must undergo extensive treatments that include costly medication.

They are asking for the public’s support to help Hillyer and his family through a difficult time.
