Thirty-seven teams of snowmobile racers are lined up for the first Cain’s Quest in three years.
It’s one of the toughest endurance events in the land with snowmobilers zipping across the barren and frozen north. They will touch most regions of Labrador beginning March 4.
Chris Lacey, one of the organizers, says it takes about 500 volunteers to pull the thing off. Cain’s Quest has put out a call for more volunteers in the lead-up to the event, a call which also publicizes the race.
The publicity also usually results in new people to the area volunteering as it’s all part of the recruitment process.
