A sad end to the search for a missing snowmobiler on the Northern Peninsula.
Police say the 46-year-old man, who was travelling alone, was reported overdue around 3:00 p.m. on Saturday after he failed to return from a cabin near Eastern Brook pond.
Local residents had been searching for the man prior to the police being notified.
About 45 minutes later, they say the man and his snowmobile were located in open water in a pond near Anchor Point.
The Office of the Chief Medical Examiner has been engaged and the investigation is continuing.
