A Canadian songstress has released a new song detailing the tragedy of her own family from Newfoundland.
Tonia Cianciulli, whose family is from the island, has released a new single, “Churchyard Roses”, which details the loss of her grandparents’ four-year-old son Edward, who drowned in the province’s waters in 1935.
Cianciulli says the story was originally passed on to her by her father.
She says when her father told her the story, she couldn’t fathom how her grandparents were able to get through it.
