The premier says conversations are being had about how to support public safety concerns amid an apparent escalation in the incidence and nature of violent crime.
A number of high profile and startling crimes have grabbed headlines in recent months, leading to questions about safety and increased patrols and a police presence in certain areas.
Premier Andrew Furey says it is something government is also concerned about.
He says public safety should be the top priority of any government, and if there needs to be enhanced RNC or RCMP function then that’s something they would be prepared to invest in.
