The Federation of Labour says the Teamsters Union considers the passing of Bill 24 as an avenue toward binding arbitration and a fair deal.
President Jessica McCormack says however the type of “on the fly” change seen in the House of Assembly yesterday is always a concern for the labour movement.
She says progressive reform is needed for existing labour laws.
“We really believe had we looked at some of those changes in advance, we could have established labour legislation that would have some of these issues and provided mechanisms, like binding arbitration, that could have resolved this dispute,” she says.
