The Memorial University Faculty Association is holding rallies at the St. John’s and Grenfell campuses today.
The union says they are encouraged by what they call growing momentum towards collegial governance, and the rallies will be to celebrate their successes thus far.
They say they remain focused on what they regard as the university’s “persistent disregard for MUNFA’s contractual workers.”
The union says contractual workers are paid substantively less than tenure and tenure-track professors, even though they possess equal qualifications and are relied on to teach 40 per cent of the courses at MUN.
The rally in St. John’s is being held at the Arts and Administration building at noon, while the Grenfell rally is happening at 2:30 p.m. with marches from the picket lines to the Sir Richard Squires building.
