The Polar Vortex that’s pushed southward in recent days, has resulted in extreme cold temperature warnings in parts of southern Canada, the U.S. and even Newfoundland and Labrador.
With the wind chill, temperatures dipped into the minus 30’s for most of the island, with Port aux Basques being the coldest spot, recording a low of -35 on Saturday afternoon.
In Grand Falls-Windsor, where the temperature reached around -30, resident Corey Sharpe decided to see just what those cold temperature look like.
A pan of water thrown into the air froze immediately, turning the water into a fine, frozen mist.
Meanwhile, Labrador was the coldest spot in the province with temperatures near fifty below.
In Labrador City one young resident was left with a dilemma when her noodles froze in place, chopsticks and all, like a piece of sculpture when the mercury plunged to -42 last week.
