The city of St. John’s says council and Metrobus agree that the bus shelter outside The Gathering Place must remain in place for the time being.
The statement came after council met with Metrobus to address the issue. A sign indicating that the shelter was being removed came down earlier today.
The city says there are ongoing safety and service issues associated with that particular shelter that must be addressed.
City staff, along with representatives of the St. John’s Transportation Commission will reach out to The Gathering Place to develop a plan for management of the bus shelter.
Mayor Danny Breen is also reaching out to minister responsible for NL Housing, John Abbott to discuss increasing concerns surrounding homelessness in the community.
