More details have been released regarding a snowmobiler who passed away after going through the ice near Perry’s Cove in Conception Bay North on Sunday.

Harbour Grace RCMP were notified of an overdue snowmobiler, and a short time later, they were informed of a hole in the ice on Middle Pond near the community.

Firefighters from the Salmon Cove/Perry’s Cove, Harbour Grace and Victoria fire departments, as well as members of the Harbour Grace Cold Water Rescue Team and the Avalon North Wolverines Search and Rescue attended the scene.

The missing man’s body was recovered from the pond a short time later.

The Chief Medical Officer is involved in the investigation.
